Sharing My Faith
HOW DO I START?
The most difficult part of witnessing seems to be starting. Simply talk about what Jesus means to you and how God comforts you in the face of danger. Show love and concern.
Do not worry about training that you may be lacking. Evangelism training is good, but training is not a requirement to witness for Christ. Read John chapter 4. Note that the Samaritan woman received no training. She witnessed to people who would not associate with her because of her wicked life.
John 4:39 (NIV): "Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in Him because of the woman's testimony, "He told me everything I ever did.""
Note the witnessing method used by the woman. She talked about how Jesus affected her life. No carefully constructed 5 point plan here.
Once there was a man who would invite an unbelieving friend to a day of fishing. After a few hours of small talk in the boat, the man would move the conversation toward religion, then he would turn to his pastor, whom was also invited. The pastor would then talk about Jesus. This man never did give any gospel presentation. His witnessing method was to bring others to hear the Gospel.
We too can bring people to hear about Jesus. Ask your unchurched neighbor if you can drive them to church when you go. You may have to offer several times. Offer to take someone to Bible Information Class (BIC). Sit there with them to provide support. There are many ways to tell others about Jesus. Look for the way that God has provided for you.
